In the War of 1812 Captain James Lawrence ordered his troops not to surrender. He continued by ordering, “Tell the men to fire faster!”
Senators Kerry, Liebermann, and Graham…. take heed. You’re getting close. You’re almost ready to cross the goal line.
At TerraVerde Capital, we recently found out what financial advisors are thinking about regarding green investments.
We recently completed a survey of U.S. based financial advisors, and the results were attention-grabbing. The results indicated that over half of the advisors surveyed allocate to green investments through a range of investment options, including mutual funds, individual securities positions, hedge funds, and private equity funds. The naysayers think that renewable energy investments are not important, and we should maintain the status quo. Wrong!
More importantly, 55% of the advisors don’t think that enough progress is being made in Washington on energy dependence or global warming and climate change issues, but 45% say that government does play a key role in stimulating green growth. Did you hear that Senators?

We find the results to be very supportive for the evolving theme of renewable energy technology, and this may provide some new insight for the three Senators who are getting very close to releasing their committee bill. Despite the confusion on a legislative level and misinformation on a practical level, this survey seems to indicate investor preferences. And, let’s not forget that investors vote every day with their pocketbooks.
I would encourage Capitol Hill to look at our results. Investors and their advisors do indeed care about green investing! Follow the lead of Captain Lawrence.
