In the May 19th, 2012 edition of The Economist, the Schumpeter column discusses corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Countless numbers of conferences and roundtables have been held discussing CSR and green investing and numerous white papers have been written over a period of many years. It is encouraging to see action plans being put into practice by well recognized corporations.
Take a look at the link to see the positive procedures that companies are taking including leaders Nike and UPS.
CSR “is encouraging businesses to become more frugal in their use of resources and more imaginative in the way they think about competitive advantage.” It is also interesting to note that CSR appears in the Schumpeter column since economist Joseph Schumpeter’s view of capitalism involves innovation by entrepreneurs and the “creative destruction” that creates new opportunities for industries.
From our perspective, it is encouraging that more companies are focusing on sustainability and green investing rather than just talking about it.
